Razvan Sava, who saved the winning penalty at Gallini Cup Budapest in 2017, has signed for Udinese.
As captain of the Romanian National team, not only he conquered the gold medal at the Hungarian edition of the Gallini Cup, but he also won the Best Goalkeeper Award both in Pordenone and in Budapest. Now he’s joining Udinese, a Serie A club that he already faced at Gallini Cup in 2017 for the Under 15 Quarter-Final in Pordenone (winning 4-0). The only team who managed to stop Romania at that edition has been Empoli FC (2-0 in the semifinal) which also won the tournament. The Italian winners have now many of their players in their Serie A roster, check out all the tournament stars here.
Despite not reaching the final in Pordenone though, Răzvan Sava performed so well that he still brought home the Best Goalkeeper Award.
Romania Revenge at Gallini Cup 2017 in Budapest
After the main Gallini Cup edition in Pordenone during Easter time, in June Romania got his revenge winning on penalties the Gallini Cup final in Budapest against Venezia FC. Răzvan Sava saving the last penalty has been the absolute leader of the success.
Two Times Best Gallini Cup Goalkeeper
After the brilliant performance at Gallini Cup in Pordenone, it was impossible to don’t celebrate the Romanian goalkeeper once again in Budapest after saving the deciding penalty kick, giving him an unprecedented record of two individual Gallini Cup Awards in a row.
What Happened After the Tournament?
Just shortly after the victory at Gallini Cup in Budapest, Juventus brought Răzvan Sava in Turin to join its Academy. He then joined other prestigious Italian clubs to finally debut in the first team of CFR Cluj, playing also in the Conference League. Now the 1,94m Romanian goalkeeper, born in 2002, is ready to come back in Italy and fight for a spot in Serie A with Udinese, the main football club of the Gallini Cup tournament homeland.
